    Maxine's Last Will and Testiment

This cracked me up! Had to share -

    MY LIVING  WILL

Last night my sister  and I were sitting in the den and I said to her, 'I never want  to live in a vegetative state, dependent on some  machine and fluids from a bottle to keep me alive.  That  would be no quality of life at all,  If that ever happens,  just pull the plug.'

So she got up,  unplugged the computer, and threw out my wine..

    She's such a bitch.

    Pictures From Iran

I was watching this and stopped when Patrick showed up behin me of course at a bloody scary picture. He asked what happened and I did not know what to say. "Many people wanted peace and freedom and their government would not let that happen and so the police there hurt them" was the best I could do.

"Where did this happen, Mama?" asked Patrick

"In Iran, love, you know where Auntie s from?" and he looked down and got very quiet...

"Well, it is a good thing she lives here now." says my sage 6 year old.

It is a good thing for our beloved friend, how does hatred like this happen all over the world though? How do you explain that?

many angles are covered, there is much more out there though...

Talking about YouTube - World unites for democracy in Iran

My dear friend is Iranian. I love her and have learned so much about such a beautiful culture! I think the US cannot do much without thwarting the uprising efforts, but we as individuals, as humans, as brothers and sisters can do much about what we will and will not tolerate and th justice we choose to stand up for and demand. May the people in Iran demanding freedom be swift and may those who have paid the ultimate price not be forgotten or ignored. I am sharing this video in hopes for peace and unity - with my love....

Halibut for the Hell Of It

I am trying so hard to incorporate fish into our diet as often as possible. I made a REALLY  REALLY eay recipe today - it was Halibut cut into sll little steaks. I wrapped each in two strips of bacon, but I cut the bacon in half first. I placed the wrapped fish in a frying pa seam side down and cooked till bacon was done by then the fish was too. THAT IS IT. I served it over a salad - the salad was a littel labor intensive my salads usually are, with grapefruit, diced necterines, red onion, field greens, sunflower seeds and poppyseed dressing. YUMMY! Every one ate well, the kids, the hubby the dog - just thought I would share!

    Just because You Can....

OK ok ok I know this topic is like a million times over written about, but I am struggling with the concept (yes again) of just because I can does not mean I should. I feel wide open. My fickle girlie band is taunting me. No restriction so I am being SO super careful to measure what I eat because if left alone I would snack all day or eat way too much at a sitting. I am rationing...not fun. Sometimes you cannot avoid bad for you foods in general - today was the last day of school, and I tried half of a burger. I purposefully cut the burger in half, and then cut my half in half so that I would not be diving into a plate of food. Burgers, hot dogs, you know "kid crap" is sometimes unavoidable. It also smells SO bloody good at times, I thought I would have a bite or two and be like, "Whoa girlie, slow your roll" the opposite happened. Not only could I eat my whole half, but I was left wishing I had not cut the ding dong burger in half. I am SO glad I did, I refused to allow myself the possiility, but still. Having had so much fluid removed and am now inching my way up again refilling her majesty. Trying to exercise and walk and measure which is not the worst ever, I know wah wah wah poor me, but it is a pain in the arse if you catch my drift. Grr. I hate the tweaking - wonder when I will ever get it right?

    Working On It

My husband started his injections to stop the progression of MS yesterday. Honestly he did SO much better than I did! He was brave, patient, informative and asked all his questions. He was amazing! I was a mess. I wanted to eat everything and assure you I could have. I did not, but I wanted to. Whatever - it would not have actually made me feel beter, so I didnt but the thinking all day was exhausting. Today does not seem much better. What is the deal? Grrrr. I ended up eating a meal replacement bar for dinner because I did not trust myself to eat anything else in moderation. I feel no restriction still. I seem to not get it right - either my band is too full or feels empty. Maybe I am distracted by all else going on.Anyway, I white knuckle it (which sucks as I head into Summer party season) but I carry what I can eat and I push through the head trips I create for myself. The internal arguments and pleading for just a bite of whatever are getting old fast. WHy ae we our own worst enemy? I thought I had that knocked out by now. Grrrrr.

    SWIM!!

So, I USED to be a hard core swimmer. Key emphasis on USED TO be....today I hit the pool for the first time in a year to actually swim swim - not play around with my kids swim. I have mostly been waking and now know I need to step it up a notch. My arms used to look great when I was swimming, so since I am starting to get drooping arm syndrome with the weight loss I had some time free and decied to hit the pool. Oh My God it was SO much harder than I remember! First time always sucks. I went in hoping to do a 500 (20 laps) and after the 1st 100 (4 laps) my legs were burning and begging me to stop. I would not. Damn it all I WAS going to finish at least a 250 (10 laps) for heaven sake! So I pushed through. I even did not allow muself to give up flip turns. I noticed something - I move in the water differently now that I am a tad more svelte. Flip Turns were easier and did not induce the dizziness I remember less than fondly when I was 275. No no no - I pushed through that psych out and made all 20 laps (I guess loosing almost 90 pounds DID help, huh??). I did it in 15 minutes! WITH fip turns and when it was over no pansy ass stairs for me, I dead lifted myself out of the pool! Now I am a little shakey from pushing so hard, but I am proud I did it. I figure if I could work up to a mile - about a 1750 (70 laps) 3 times a week and walk the rest I will be SMOKIN' by my birthday. WIsh meluck!

    Menu

This evening Harry has an old friend from High School and his father visiting fro VA. I am in charge of dinner for someone I have never met but who seems like a lot of fun (he is a friend of Harry's after all - so he MUST be awesome, all my husband's friends are very worth while!) ANYWAY I have decided upon a menu for the evening that is making me wish my cleanig ws over so I could start making the house smell divine!

Mango-chutney broiled Copper River Sockeye wild caught Salmon (whole I am filleting it - wish me luck!)
    Pineapple/Chili marinated Cous Cous
Strawberry/blackberry poppyseed Spinach salad with roasted Pecans

WHEW! For dessert my children have decided to make Ice Cream cups in the shpe of little mice! Dont worry no mice will be harmed in the making of this dessert! It is a scoop of Tillamook, a licorice string for a tail, chocolate waffers for ears and M&M's for eyes. I will not be having dessert, but I am lettingthem have at it. They are VEY excited!

So there you have it. My BRILLIANT plan of eating on the porch has been kabashed wth rain and drizzle and cool fronts - whatever we needed to chill out - so my dining room is en route to becoming SPOTLESS...SPOTLESS I tell you! Bwuew ha ha ha (manical laughter inserted here)

Wish me luck in Stepford people - smiles everyone smiles!

BTW my good friend Amy just sent me this email - I know it is an old one, and no I do not know the author, but it sure makes me smile here in suburbia that SOMEONE gets me....and there are quotes to prove it....

    Shopping Victory!

    Hey all -

First I have to appologize to Jessie - Jessie for some reason I had y appointment in my calendar as being at 1:30 in the afternoon, but alas it was at 9 am - how I mixed that up I will never know, but I have rescheduled for Monday and got a CARD this time so I wont make that mistake again.

Second, because I was all the way up there I decided to hit Walmart. I must be careful at Walmart because everything is so cheap, but even cheap adds up. At any rate I needed some new Summer clothes and decided to TRY on a strapless bra there. I actually have a great deal of luck there and as my weight drops, my bras need to be updated (even though I do carry a Sloveinien curse of being rather well...ahem...endowed) but I al small enough to fit in a great deal of sun dresses so I thought whynot? IT FIT! They actually have a great selection of "large" strapless bras (I am a 38DD for example, but they had 40DD and 42DD that saw). Not only did I get TWO (at $15 why not?) but I also got some spaghetti strap tanks because I have not been able to wear them since HIGH SCHOOL! they fit, I fee happy that I will give my hubby a thrill and I am excited to see how soon I can work my way nto some of the more fitted styles so they are incentive! Now to start swimming more so my arms can get more cut - see thes things are a GREAT NSV incentive pusher!

Anyway, wanted to share. Always fun to find stuff that works...

    Fill Day!

Last night saw us at Children's Hospital with Patrick. After 9 days of progressively worse hadaches I finally called no joy and ran to his Dr. He sent us to Children's where we ruled out Bacteial Meningitis (and picked my worried ass off the floor) and realized he just had a persistant virus. He needed home, rest, fluis and pain reliever to gehis fever down and headache. Whew - but poor baby! Now the weathe is finally cooperating and it is notso HOT HOT HOT I might standa chance to keep hm comfy.

Today I will be placing some more fluid in mynow WIDE open band. I had fluid removed last week. I knew I was wide open. I knew today would be the LAST day to be so so I figured I should have something I have craved for a year...I could not driv to get a chili dog or burger....had to be at home...then I had it! A peanut butter and honey sandwich! I made one for the kids, and got one piece of bread. cut it in half. Made my sandwich. Cut that in half and ate 1/4 ofa PB and Honey sandwich. My puppy was VERY happy to have the other 1/4th. It was orgasmic. Seriously. I heard angels sing. YAY. I wis I coulda had something worse...but honestly could not think of anything worth driving my boy around to get, so lunch at home with my kids njoying some yogurt and giggles was perfect. Ah food, I will miss ya, honey!

Back to the grind, damn it. I have 50 more pounds to go! I know that seems like a lot for you "normal" joes but I have already lost 90! WHOO HOO! I bet if I work VERY hard I can get there by my 40th. So I will have spent my 30's married, plump, and making babies....the 40's will ring in health, travel and family. Not a bad plan!

    Bang Your Head

So - Patrick is on day three of aterrible headache. Nothing seems to put a dent in it. The Dr thought meningitis or strep but the rapid test for strep came back negatve - we are waiting for a more formal culture from the lab. He is taking motrin and tylenol but it is so sad to see him vaccilate from curling up in a crying ball on the couch in pain and playing like a 6 year old. He starts to play and I think "Go to school!' and then a few minutes later there are tears and he is gripping his head. I have to pull off a teacher's luncheon at his school so Harry is staying home with im today for the morning. If  you have a minute to call I think Patrick would like the break.

On an off topic, last night I saw a virtuosso violinist, David Garrett, and showed it to Patrick this morning. Patrick said he wanted to learn guitar and drums because the violin did not "rock" enough - so I showed him this guy. He is AMAZING! He looks very familiar - SO German! Anyway, as we were watching, Riley pushes me aside to "see" and says, "Oh Mommy! Can I play THAT?!?!?!?!?!" Okie dokie - Patrick was mildly impressed that you could be a rock star and a violinist but Riley's breath (as was mine) was taken away. You should check him out! He just beat the word record on Flight Of The Bumble Bee and it was like watching fire come from his fingertips! He goes from interpreting pop music to classical arrangements in a very cool flair - if he is playing anywhere near you I highly recommend taking your whole family to see him! You can look him up on You Tube but alas, his rendition of the "Ballad of The Pirate" is not a video yet (you can hear it and see a lovely picture of this beautiful boy, but watching him actually perform is captivating). He recently played Live in Berlin for PBS - that might be available soon. I am rcording it again because I came to the peformance late - but set your DVR's for it so that the kids can see some rocking classical music with a fun twist - just fast forward through the commercials...
